Our Services

The hospital is one of only three hospitals in the Rorya District.

Shirati Hospital has 170 beds, which are at times shared by more than one patient due to high demand for services. Most of the local population does not have health insurance, and due to widespread poverty in the area, many patients are unable to afford the full cost of healthcare. To ensure access to essential medical services, the hospital frequently provides care below the actual cost of treatment, and many patient bills are partially or fully written off when payment is not possible.

Shirati Hospital provides a wide range of outpatient and inpatient services.

The hospital also operates four remote clinics to further serve the healthcare needs of communities across the region.

These clinics are located in Nyarero, Nyangoto, Burere and Nyamasanda.

Nyarero
Nyarero Health Centre is led by a Clinical Officer and supported by a Nurse Officer in Charge. The centre has 30 beds and provides many of the services available at Shirati Hospital. However, surgical services are not currently provided at this facility.

Burere & Nyamasanda
Burere and Nyamasanda are the hospital’s smallest health centres, each with 10 beds. Each centre is led by a Clinical Officer and primarily provides outpatient services.
